Tammy
Tammy was the first resident of the Howey Zoo. She was actually Nancy's at
home before we were wed and had been living in a pen on the back of their
house. When we brought her to be with us, shortly after we were married,
Tammy wanted very litle to do with anyone. The turning point seemed to come
one day when Fred was carrying her outside and she decided to curl around his
hand and eat dinner - dinner being his wrist. Fred had
a paperback book in his other hand which was applied to Tammy's seat of learning or
whatever other anatomical section was nearby. Amazingly, Tammy and Fred then became great
friends until her passing.
Tammy also was the recipient of the first addition to the newlyweds abode
when we built a small pen on the back of the garage for her. After all, she'd
had one down at the folk's house - or so the justification went between the
ultimate softies.
