Our Projects

From 1997 to 2002 we did major remodeling. Prior to then, it was just the normal paint, paper, panel and repair for the most part. There were a few larger projects over the years - the addition in 1970 which structurally, was professionally done; the garage, circa 1975, which was a kit and the neighbors helped on; some room usage changes to accomodate growing children; the shed in 1984 or thereabouts; and a couple of basic bathroom refurbishes during the 80's plus the porch(es) at Laurel Lake.

Over the years there were numerous changes that Nancy wanted but most of them were precluded by one thing or another. The first relatively major change was to move the laundry from the cellar to upstairs. This turned out to be an excellent start for the whole sequence of projects. Nancy was thrilled! No more down the stairs, into the dark (nearly windowless) cellar to take or get the laundry, then back out through the rec room and out to the clothes line, and then back up the stairs.

The most major project and the one that Nancy most wanted was a new kitchen and dining room. We decided that the best way to get the needed space was to enclose the deck and combine it with Matt's bedroom. We did wait until Matt graduated college and moved out on his own, thus making the bedroom available.

Anyhow, that's how we got started on all these messes. We've been pretty much thrilled with the results but at times got tired of dust and inconvenience. It never seemed to be quite finished either, but after re-siding and converting the back screened porch into a sunporch with radiant floor heating, it's pretty well finished!
