Singing With the Vestal Community Chorus
After graduating from Harpur College Nancy taught school for a while before becoming a stay at home mom with Lynelle and Matthew. After the kids were both in school she did some substitute teaching then joined Reba Pickering in running the nursery at Midway Bowling. After Reba retired Nan continued operating the nursery for several years and then began a career as a dental receptionist at the office that became the Smile Designers in Endicott.
She hung that one up on November 1, 2007 to take up the life of a Snowbird and to allow more time for the grandkids and her own activities.
Some of her interests over the years besides the children, have been singing, Bunco, piano, harmonica, shopping, Yoga and bicycling. During her snowbird sojourn in March 2009, she did a personal best by riding a 32 miler on the Withlacoochee Trail.
Currently, regular events include the monthly
Bunco
party and numerous church activities, many with cousins Jan and Marion. In the warm weather in Vestal the flowers are a main activity when the deer aren't hungry. (Don't ask, but they don't eat just vegetables!). Nancy sings in the Vestal Community Chorus in the fall and attends Yoga classes. She does an annual trip, generally to NYC, with best friend Polly to a show or play.
In 2006 the long promised gazebo was finally constructed and it contains a hammock that requires close attention on warm sunny days.
